Description

The Department of Economics at San Diego State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Law and Economics or Public Economics with a research specialization in the economics of crime. The successful candidate will show promise in publishing in leading scholarly journals in economics and be able to teach courses at both the undergraduate and master’s levels. The position will begin in August 2025 and the successful candidate must have completed their PhD by August 20, 2025.

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current California State University salary schedule for Assistant Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $102,000 to $108,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package on top of salary that constitutes a major portion of total compensation. Advanced Assistant Professors with a strong record of scholarly publications are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and / or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
