Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Infusion RN provides quality cancer care by assessing and monitoring patients, formulating a nursing diagnosis and prioritizing problems. Engages the patient in a mutual goal setting and developing a plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other members of the health care team.
*This is part-time position (20 hrs/wk) working at our Muskegon office. The days to work are Tuesday and Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm. No weekend or holidays.*
Desired/Required Qualifications:
Education:
Licensed RN in the State of Michigan.
Successful completion of competency based orientation program and chemotherapy certificate
ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of employment.
ACLS required within 90 days of employment
Specific skills & abilities:
Minimum of 1 year medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
Proficient in successful peripheral IV access, PICC/port management (med surg, emergency, intensive care etc).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assesses and monitors the overall needs of patients and significant others.
Develops and maintains an individualized plan of care with the patient and significant others.
Initiates follow-up care in community and home.
Gives chemotherapy according to ONS and OSHA guidelines.
Provides research-based nursing care in cooperation with physicians, research team and community and national research standards.
Evaluates patients and significant others needs for education and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies.
Documents nursing care and teaching consistent with documentation guidelines.
Maintains communication with other health team members to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as patient/significant others advocate.
Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, efficient, and quality patient care.
Documents patient chargeable services and items used.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in oncology by reading, attending conferences, seminars, etc.
May be pulled to work at other CHC sites based on clinic and patient needs.
All other duties as assigned.
