Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician – Retail dispenses prescription drugs to patients under the supervision of the pharmacist in charge. Provide quality patient care and excellent customer service. Follow departmental procedures with regard to inventory control, claims submission and other administrative tasks. This position has a dual report to the Retail Business Manager and Site Pharmacist.
* This position will be working Monday to Friday (8:30am to 5:00pm) at our LHCP location.*
Desired/Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma, some college preferred. Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
Specific skills & abilities:
Retail pharmacy, claim reconciliation or accounting background helpful.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Input customer and prescription data into pharmacy computer system. Create prescription labels, accurately retrieve medication for dispensing, and place medication into prescription containers, done under supervision of pharmacist and in accordance with local and federal law.
2. Ensure excellent customer service in the Retail Pharmacy department.
3. Inventory control and accurate handling of pharmaceuticals, packing slips and invoices.
4. Handle telephone inquiries, and assist in resolving issues and complaints in a timely manner.
5. Ensure claims are properly filed in the QS-1 NRx environment. Enter customer purchases into Point-of-Sale system.
6. Accept telephone prescriptions and refills from physician offices as well as written prescriptions from patients. Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions.
7. All other duties as assigned.
