POSITION PURPOSE:
To supervise and assist in ensuring the appropriate set-up of banquet rooms according to guest specifications and Marcus' standards of quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop and implement sustainable training and development programs in order to ensure efficient, competent and professional set-up and service delivery.
2. Assist and supervise banquet set-up staff and ensure all tasks are completed.
3. Maintain condition and cleanliness of work area, equipment and storage.
4. Complete visual inspection and maintenance of banquet and meeting space and condition of equipment.
5. Supervise and train staff in the set up and break down of assigned banquet rooms according to Banquet Event Order (BEO) and manager's instructions.
6. Communicate frequently with supervisors and managers.
7. Assist in counseling of associates to include verbal communications, preparation of written documentation for management administration with associate(s) along with assistance of performance appraisal preparation.
8. Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies and procedures, Marriott Standards, and Information Protection procedures.
9. Administer discipline as needed at a supervisory level and ensure disciplinary procedures are followed.
10. Communicate frequently with guest contacts in order to ensure that their needs are being met.
11. Supervise, inspect and train staff in maintaining cleanliness of banquet rooms, public areas, and storage areas.
12. Supervise and train staff in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies.
13. Attend all scheduled mandatory Banquet Department meetings, trainings and hotel meetings.
14. Perform all other related duties and special projects as requested and/or assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma required, advanced degree in hospitality related field preferred.
2. Prior Banquet Set-Up, hospitality and/or supervisory experience preferred.
3. Ability to respond quickly and accurately to guest requests.
4. Supervisory and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task quickly and efficiently.
5. Basic knowledge of food preparation.
6. Ability to obtain and maintain an active serve safe certification and Alcohol service certification per Marcus Hotels & Resorts, and Marriott.
7. Dependable and reliable to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation with flexibility to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work under pressure.
8. Attention to detail.
9. Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
10. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language.
11. Must be able to lift, push, pull and or carry up to 100lbs.
12. Ability to stand and move throughout continuously to perform essential job functions.
13. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
14. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system when applicable, strong proficiency in Excel required, prior Marriott system experience preferred.
15. Must be able to represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner.
