Overview:
The Carey School, a Preschool through 5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California, seeks an Extended Care Aide for the 2024-2025 school year. This part-time position begins in August 2024 and involves supervising students in Preschool through 5th grade during after-school hours. The Extended Care Aide is accountable to the Auxiliary Programs Director.
Responsibilities:
The Extended Care Aide assumes all responsibilities assigned by the Auxiliary Programs Director. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and supervising indoor and outdoor activities for Preschool-5th grade participants.
- Providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for all students in their care.
- Communicating thoughtfully and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Following and implementing school safety and disciplinary measures and procedures.
- Preparing and leading outdoor group games and hands-on art and STEM projects.
- Providing homework assistance and academic support.
- Maintaining attendance records and following all related procedures.
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness of after-school spaces and materials.
- Collaborating with colleagues to plan and implement programming.
- Demonstrating professionalism at all times by upholding the school's values and supporting its leadership.
- Operating in a friendly, flexible, and cooperative manner with all members of The Carey School community.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary age children is required.
- Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are strongly preferred.
- Enthusiasm for games, outdoor play, and education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective multitasker and self-starter.
Additional Information:
- Position Type: Part Time, School Year
- Hours: 2:00-6pm; Some Evening Hours
- Pay Range: $20-25 hourly, non-exempt position
