Position Overview
CARIAN is seeking a Senior Project Controls Engineer with strong cost control expertise to support gas utility capital projects. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep cost management capabilities and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The Senior Project Controls Engineer will work closely with project managers, construction teams, and financial stakeholders to ensure disciplined cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting across a growing portfolio of gas operations projects.
Responsibilities
- Own project cost controls across assigned gas projects, from planning through closeout
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, accruals, and cash flow projections
- Track actual costs, analyze variances, and identify cost trends and risks
- Prepare high-quality cost reports and client-facing summaries on a regular cadence
- Support funding requests, change order documentation, and cost impact analysis
- Ensure accurate, timely data is maintained across tools such as Excel, SAP, and client systems
- Coordinate closely with schedulers, construction leads, and finance to ensure alignment
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in project cost controls, ideally supporting utility or gas infrastructure programs
- Solid understanding of capital budgeting, earned value, and project cost lifecycle
- Proficiency in cost systems such as SAP and Excel; experience with Ariba a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field
