The Caring Healthcare Network (CHN) is currently seeking an MAT/Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. This position is full-time (Monday to Friday) at our Philipsburg Clinic. Our health clinic is committed to establishing, maintaining and operating suitable facilities to provide quality medical care for those in need.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The MAT counselor is responsible for providing a full range of direct and indirect services including psycho-social assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, complex discharge planning, crisis intervention, referral, and resource referral to clients and their families.
WHAT YOU DO: The Counselor is responsible for the delivery of therapeutic services to clients seeking treatment for substance use and/or co-occurring disorders. Responsibilities to include:
- Completing intake and admission paperwork with new clients during initial appointment.
- Conducting biopsychosocial assessment and gathering pertinent information regarding substance use history, medical history, mental health history, and other relevant personal history.
- Collaborating with clients to create initial and/or comprehensive treatment plans addressing the client's identified needs.
- Facilitating individual, group and family sessions, as indicated, by treatment plan and client needs.
- Participating in a multidisciplinary treatment team, including support staff, nursing staff, mid-level practitioners and physicians.
- Completion of all required clinical and other supporting documentation, per Department of Drug and Alcohol and/or third-party payor requirements.
- Attend and participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or other related field.
- One to two years of clinical experience (a minimum of 1,820 hours) in a health or human services agency; preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
- If experience did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, a written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
- Full certification as an addiction counselor by a statewide certification body which is a member or a national certification body or certification by another state government's substance abuse counseling certification board.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Proficiency with required intake paperwork and ability to explain any and all forms to clients and their family/support persons.
- Ability to gather relevant information from client, referral source, family, service providers and other collateral contacts.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of drug screen and background checks.
