Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to lead and enhance the recreational and social programs for our residents. This role is essential in creating an engaging environment that promotes well-being, social interaction, and personal growth among individuals with varying abilities, including those in nursing homes and memory care settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning and a strong understanding of the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, dementia, and aging issues.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of activities tailored to meet the interests and needs of residents.
- Plan and coordinate events that foster community engagement and social interaction.
- Work closely with residents, families, and staff to ensure activities are inclusive and accessible for individuals with disabilities.
- Utilize knowledge of recreational therapy to design programs that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and encourage participation in activities.
- Collaborate with social workers and healthcare professionals to integrate therapeutic activities into care plans.
- Provide support for residents in memory care settings by facilitating activities that stimulate memory recall and cognitive function.
- Maintain records of participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
Qualifications
- Experience in event planning or recreational therapy is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have disabilities or special needs.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and strategies for engaging residents with memory challenges.
- Background in social work or home community care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with residents on a personal level.
- Compassionate approach towards aging issues counseling and support for residents' emotional needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have a clear driving recorded. Will need to drive facility van for outings.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
