Position Summary

The Head of Corporate Security is responsible for leading and executing all facets of corporate security, including physical security, executive protection, risk assessment, and crisis management. Additionally, this role may function as a close protection officer and conduct advance security preparations for key events, executive travel, and other high-risk engagements. This position ensures the safety and security of company assets, executives, employees, and infrastructure while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and seamless coordination with external law enforcement and security agencies.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Corporate Security Strategy & Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate security strategy, ensuring alignment with business needs and industry best practices.
  • Executive Protection: Design and oversee executive protection programs for senior leadership, including security planning for Board meetings, offsite meetings, conferences, and corporate events. As needed, provide advanced security for events or meetings, including advance reconnaissance and route planning, and close protection and counter-surveillance
  • Risk Monitoring & Oversight: Review and analyze potential threats to all employees and company to understand Executive Office's risk, including a broad review of news coverage, government briefings, and updates in the security community
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and develop security protocols to address vulnerabilities across all company locations and operations.
  • Crisis & Emergency Response: Lead crisis management and emergency response efforts, including active shooter situations, natural disasters, and security breaches.
  • Security Operations: Oversee all physical security measures, including access control systems, surveillance technology, and incident response procedures.
  • Law Enforcement & Vendor Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as manage third-party security vendors and contract staff.
  • Event Security: Coordinate security measures for company events, including Carlyle Conferences, ensuring the safety of executives and attendees through threat analysis, intelligence gathering, and protective logistics.
  • Travel Security: Implement travel security programs, including route planning, risk monitoring, and secure transportation for executives.
  • Policy & Compliance: Develop, update, and enforce security policies in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Incident Investigations: Lead investigations into security breaches, employee incidents, and external threats, coordinating with legal and HR as necessary.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and manage the security department's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation for security initiatives.


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in corporate security, law enforcement, military service, or executive protection, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Excellent knowledge of the geography of New York City and surrounding areas.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of security laws, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with access control systems, surveillance technologies, risk assessment tools, and security intelligence platforms.
  • Security Certifications: Preferred certifications include Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP), or similar credentials.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, crisis management, and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with executives and law enforcement.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.


Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York City and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.


The anticipated base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $200,000.


In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
