The Carter Treatment Center (TCTC), located in the heart of Cumming, GA, is an evidence-based, client-centered treatment program that provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment services for substance use disorders in a warm and welcoming environment with professional and caring staff. The Carter Treatment Center is currently seeking a full-time Intake Assessment Counselor. The Intake Assessment Counselor will conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments and orientation with incoming clients, maintain an individual caseload of clients, and provide coverage and assistance to other areas of the program when needed. As an Intake Assessment Counselor at The Carter Treatment Center, you will work with a supportive and collaborative interdisciplinary treatment team that are all focused on TCTC’s mission to provide education, therapy, support, and community resources to enable individuals to achieve their full potential.
Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the admissions coordinator to schedule assessments for incoming clients
- Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments for incoming clients
- Complete orientation and intake consents with incoming clients
- Maintain an individual caseload of at least 6 clients which includes providing case management, weekly individual counseling sessions, open communication with clients’ families/support person(s), treatment planning, discharge/aftercare planning
- Provide coverage to facilitate group therapy sessions as needed
- Provide assistance in other areas of the program as needed
- Establish open lines of communication with incoming clients and current clients, as well as their families/identified support person(s), in order to establish and maintain their engagement in treatment
- Conduct breathalyzers with clients
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate and plan treatment
- Maintain client files by having appropriate documentation completed and in client’s chart within the required time frames
- Attend weekly interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies
- Submit required clinical documentation to the utilization review specialist in order to obtain initial authorization and continued coverage of treatment services
- Attend trainings, staff meetings, and supervision as needed and according to program standards
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients, which includes providing crisis intervention in accordance with program procedures
- Maintain ethical boundaries with clients
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2)
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree and certified or licensed as CAADC, CMAC, LMSW, APC, AMFT, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. Must be certified and/or licensed to provide therapeutic services in the state of Georgia.
- Previous experience in addiction or mental health counseling, or other related field
- Previous experience and ability to complete initial biopsychosocial assessments, conduct individual counseling sessions, and facilitate group therapy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in work with clients, staff, outside treatment providers, and community resources
- A desire to facilitate client growth through a team approach, working with others on the interdisciplinary treatment team, as well as the ability to work independently
- Strong leadership qualities and demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Ability to plan, implement, and adjust a course of treatment as required
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Competent in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office and EHR Systems
