The Carter Treatment Center (TCTC), located in the heart of Cumming, GA, is an evidence-based, client-centered treatment program that provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment services, during day and evening hours, for substance use disorders in a warm and welcoming environment with professional and caring staff. The Carter Treatment Center is currently seeking a full-time Substance Abuse Counselor for our Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide recovery-oriented clinical services to clients in both group and individual settings. The Substance Abuse Counselor will also complete intake biopsychosocial assessments and orientation with new clients when needed. As a Substance Abuse Counselor at The Carter Treatment Center, you will work with a supportive and collaborative interdisciplinary treatment team that are all focused on TCTC’s mission to provide education, therapy, support, and community resources to enable individuals to achieve their full potential.
Hours: Mon-Fri, 1:00pm-9:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Intensive Outpatient Services with clients in group and individual settings as determined by and according to program standards
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments and orientation with new clients
- Prepare materials for facilitating individual sessions and group therapy
- Establish open lines of communication with clients and their families/identified support person(s)
- Evaluate behavioral and emotional needs of clients and family members
- Initiate and develop treatment plans with client and conduct treatment plan reviews throughout client’s time in the program
- Engage in transition and aftercare planning with clients
- Complete discharge summaries when a client completes or leaves the program
- Conduct breathalyzers with clients
- Assist in the collection of urine drug screens, as needed
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate and plan treatment
- Maintain client files by having appropriate documentation completed and in client’s chart within the allowable time frames
- Attend weekly interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies
- Conduct insurance reviews including documentation
- Attend trainings, staff meetings, and supervision as needed and according to program standards
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients, which includes providing crisis intervention in accordance with program procedures
- Maintain ethical boundaries with clients
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2)
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Qualifications:
- Certification in Addiction Counseling or Master’s Degree in Counseling field
- Required: Bachelor’s degree and certified as CADC-I, CAC-I, CADC-II, or CAC-II, and/or Master’s degree and certified or licensed as CAADC, CMAC, LMSW, APC, AMFT, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. Must be certified and/or licensed to provide therapeutic services in the state of Georgia.
- Previous experience in addiction or mental health counseling required
- Must have previous experience and the ability to lead group sessions, conduct individual counseling sessions, and complete intake biopsychosocial assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in work with clients, staff, outside treatment providers, and community resources
- A desire to facilitate client growth through a team approach, working with other care providers, as well as the ability to work independently
- Strong leadership qualities and demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Ability to plan, implement, and adjust a course of treatment as required
- Ability to pass a background check
- Competent in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office and EHR Systems
