Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries Intern
The primary function of the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries (OYCYAM) intern is to assist the office with the preparation and implementation of programs throughout the summer. This includes but is not limited to WorkCamp and Summit. The OYCYAM intern will be expected to complete tasks with limited supervision. The OYCYAM intern works as a team member with the entire OYCYAM staff to plan and implement these projects. Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministry will often require a broad range of skills and tasks to be completed including office work, creative work, computer skills, copying and scanning skills, interpersonal skills, and creativity in clearly communicating a message to youth, young adults, families, and/or volunteers. All of these skills are used within the internship through a wide variety of tasks and projects the intern may be given. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, assisting with preliminary WorkCamp planning and preparations, various administrative tasks and data gathering regarding WorkCamp participants, helping set up WorkCamp homebase facilities, set up for events in addition to WorkCamp as necessary, and compiling feedback information after an event, and assisting with the general closeout of events.
This position is managed by the Executive Director and supervised jointly by the Assistant Director and WorkCamp Coordinator. Formal direction meetings will take place regularly. Interaction with all of the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries and other chancery staff will occur on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
Must be working towards a bachelor’s or graduate degree
Must have a valid driver's license with minimum of 3 years of driving experience and a good driving record
Must be able to meet Diocese of Arlington OPCYP (Child Protection) compliancy requirements
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary with significantly extended hours throughout 8 days of WorkCamp (June 20 – June 27, 2025)
Must have strong computer skills, including the ability to create and manage databases (proficiency in Excel required), and create social media content
Prior program management and project planning skills is a plus
Must have the ability to multitask
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must have knowledge of the mission of the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries as well as the desire and ability to promote the mission and the faith
Must be able to lift items weighing up to 100 lbs. This position may at times be physically demanding
Prior experience with parish youth ministry programs a plus
Must be self‐motivated and have a proven ability to work independently with clear instructions provided and within a team environment
