Job Summary:
St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Defensive Coordinator to join our varsity football coaching staff. The ideal candidate will bring a strong knowledge of defensive football strategy, a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field, and a desire to contribute to the growth of a competitive and character-driven football program.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement all aspects of the defensive game plan and weekly schemes.
Lead defensive practices, drills, and film sessions.
Evaluate player performance and development; provide coaching and mentorship.
Collaborate with the Head Coach and coaching staff on overall team strategy and player management.
Ensure alignment with the school’s mission, values, and academic standards.
Maintain a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for student-athletes.
Attend all practices, games, team meetings, and other program-related events.
Qualifications:
Prior high school or collegiate coaching experience required (Defensive Coordinator or position coach preferred).
Strong knowledge of football techniques, schemes, and game preparation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games.
Must pass background check and meet all FHSAA coaching requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coaching in Catholic or private school environments.
Teaching certification or ability to serve in an academic or administrative role a plus (optional, depending on candidate).
