What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Science Teacher 2025-2026 - St. Stephen Catholic School position at The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg?
A full-time position is available for a highly motivated individual to join the faculty at St. Stephen Catholic School. We are seeking applicants with a background in science education and enthusiasm for a cross-curricular, faith-filled, educational program. This person will also be responsible for teaching one or two middle school math classes.
STREAM is an innovative program that seeks to provide students with authentic and meaningful learning experiences. We are looking for an individual with teaching experience who has a passion for creating inquiry-based lessons and working with children in grades 6 8. Major duties will include teaching math and science to middle school students, assisting in the planning and running of STREAM projects, and collaborating with other teachers to produce multi-disciplinary and hands-on lessons. Knowledge of NGSS is preferred.
License:
- Professional certification (or eligible to be certified) in middle grades or secondary science.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university with an emphasis in science.
- Knowledge of 21st-century learning, understanding, and application.
- Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment-driven instruction.
- Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc).
- Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Special Instructions: Candidates must complete a diocesan centralized application process and successfully complete a Level II background screening and mandated training. Salary and benefits are commensurate with the school salary scale and Diocese benefits policy.
