The Rare Books Librarian manages the Rare Books collections under the direction of the University Archivist & Head of Special Collections, including preservation, acquisition, cataloging, description, digitization, access, research assistance, and promotions.

- Accessions and catalogs rare books materials. Researches items of interest to consider for acquisition.
- Provides onsite and remote reference services and classroom lessons, using rare books materials.
- Manages the preservation and digitization of rare books materials.
- Researches the rare books collections for educational outreach via social media, educational websites, and promotional blogs.
- Creates physical and online exhibits that will highlight rare books materials.
- Participate as a professional member in the University Libraries with academic status, in shared collegial decision making and planning; participate in committees and ad hoc projects contribute to the library profession and engage in professional development activities; participate in and contribute to professional organizations and publications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master's Degree
- Experience with rare books handling procedures
- Experience with general and rare books cataloging procedures and best practices
- Working knowledge of computers, databases, and Hypertext markup Languages
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with Google drive
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well with public
