The Conway School of Nursing offers curricula that lead to the receipt of baccalaureate, masters, doctor of nursing practice and PhD degrees. These functions contribute to the University’s mission to “to be of service to the community, the country, and the world” by offering degrees that help to address the healthcare needs of our community, the U.S., and global patient populations. The Success Coach at the University supports students facing academic and personal challenges that hinder their success. The coach provides personalized coaching and interventions, helping students develop and implement action plans to overcome obstacles. Monitors progress of nursing students with minors/certificates and collaborate with advisors to ensure completion upon graduation. Contributes to undergraduate program evaluation through committee participation, engaging faculty and leadership to better understand student performance, course interest and success, and overall program achievement. The overall goal of this position is to minimize student attrition.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $58,000 to $78,000
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized success coaching to undergraduate nursing students.
- Proactively identifies and contacts at-risk students, connecting them to appropriate support services.
- Guides students through educational planning to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Empowers students to communicate effectively with faculty and access resources such as financial aid, tutoring, counseling, career services, and disability support services.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to stay informed about course content, student progress, and departmental policies.
- Holds office hours to meet with students and document meetings in EAB Navigate.
- Ensures privacy and confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA regulations.
- Reviews transfer credits and calculate progression requirements.
- Assists students with academic strategies, including time management, organization, note-taking, reading, study skills, and well-being.
- Monitors student GPAs and identify students at risk of failing to meet matriculation requirements in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and 5 years as a practicing registered nurse. A working knowledge of PowerPoint, Blackboard, Word, Excel, and Zoom.Able to navigate Cardinal Station, knowledge of key referrals for pre-nursing and nursing students (e.g., Center for Academic Success, Disability Support Services, Administrators in Arts & Sciences). Active DC RN License.
