Overview:
The Cellar & Co. is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Host/Hostess & Food-runner to join our team as we prepare to open our new bistro and bar this spring. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of guest interaction, ensuring every visitor is welcomed with warmth and served promptly and efficiently. Whether you’re greeting guests, managing the dining flow, or delivering dishes with a smile, you’ll play a crucial part in creating a memorable experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
Key Responsibilities:
Host Duties:
- Greeting Guests: Be the first point of contact for all guests, offering a warm welcome and guiding them to their tables.
- Managing the Waitlist: Coordinate seating arrangements efficiently, ensuring that guests are seated in a timely manner while managing the flow of the dining room.
- Taking Reservations: Handle reservations via phone or online platforms, confirming and organizing seating times to ensure a smooth guest experience.
- Ensuring a Positive First Impression: Set the tone for excellent service by greeting guests with a friendly attitude, answering questions, and ensuring any special requests are noted.
Foodrunner Duties:
- Food Delivery: Once the kitchen prepares orders, you’ll carefully pick them up and deliver them to the correct table promptly and accurately, ensuring the dishes are presented beautifully.
- Table Maintenance: Assist with setting tables, ensuring all utensils, napkins, and condiments are properly arranged before guests arrive. During the meal, clear used dishes and keep tables tidy.
- Menu Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of our menu to assist guests with inquiries about dishes and ingredients, enhancing their dining experience.
Communication:
- Work closely with servers, cooks, and other staff members to ensure smooth transitions and timely service.
- Maintain effective communication throughout the shift to anticipate guest needs and help with any operational challenges.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Food Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food handling and safety practices to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced setting.
- Food Service Background: Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred, but not required.
- Basic Math Skills: Ability to assist with checking orders, handling cash, and calculating wait times accurately.
- Teamwork & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and provide excellent guest service.
