Autism Early Learner Classroom Facilitator
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Autism Early Learner Classroom Facilitator to work closely with behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. The facilitator will adapt curriculum and specialized learning activities that foster social, communication, and learner readiness skills. This role is vital in implementing individualized programming and behavioral strategies developed by BCBA’s, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists within a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Oversight: The facilitator is responsible for managing the daily schedule and activities of the Early Childhood Program including but not limited to; lead group-based activities, provide clear group instructions, offer individualized support, and ensure active participation.
- Material/Curriculum Development: Designing, organizing, and refining instructional materials and curriculum frameworks that cater to the diverse needs of children with autism. Support the development of and oversee the construction of evidence-based, multi-sensory materials that align with weekly lesson plans. In collaboration with BCBAs, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, leverage innovative approaches to create engaging learning experiences that promote cognitive, social, and self-regulatory skill development.
- Lead Structured Learning Activities: Model the implementation of therapeutic interventions and evidence-based instructional strategies tailored for children with autism in an ABA clinical setting under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
- Skill Development: Support the development of social, communication, self-regulation, learner readiness, and daily living skills by adapting activities to meet diverse sensory and learning needs under the guidance of BCBAs, occupational therapist, and speech-language pathologist.
- Maintenance of Learning Spaces: Ensure the proper cleaning and upkeep of Early Learner Program materials and treatment spaces, maintaining an environment that is both safe and conducive to learning.
- Collaboration: Collaborate continuously with interdisciplinary team members (including BCBAs, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and relevant stakeholders) to ensure that instructional and behavioral strategies meet each child's unique needs.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with best practices in autism education and intervention strategies by participating in ongoing professional development, training, and certifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with autism in an educational, therapeutic, or daycare setting.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with evidence-based interventions for autism, including ABA, TEACCH, and PECS.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and classroom management abilities with an aptitude for adapting to a structured yet flexible learning environment.
Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Schedule
The successful candidate will develop a schedule that aligns with the clinic’s needs within the Early Learners Center and be available 7:30am - 4:00pm, inclusive of a 30-min unpaid lunch. Please note that there may be needed schedule modifications to accommodate Clinic needs. Any such changes/modifications would be reviewed with the employee ahead of time.
