The Lead Behavior Technician at the ABA Clinic at CCSN BH (LBT) is expected to support all BCBA staff in their day-to-day operations in service all ABA Clinic patients and report directly to the Director of the ABA Clinic (Director). In addition to supporting logistical coordination, material development, and overall operational support, the LBT is expected to be able to complete all tasks as defined for the Behavior Technicians within CCSN BH.  

The LBT is also expected to follow all CCSN policies and procedures as defined in the CCSN Handbook as well as participate in any other activities as directed by their supervisors. All members of the CCSN: BH team are expected to participate in the general activities of the Center (e.g. all staff meetings). This includes weekly tasks such as completing timesheets and chits, attending staff meetings, and communicating with the front office. This also includes participation in any Center-Wide development activities such as trainings. 


Weekly Clinical Tasks: These tasks are the primary emphasis of the Lead Instructor’s work week Monday through Friday. 

 

  • Professional Comportment: Lead Instructors are representatives of the CCSN and must always comport themselves professionally. This includes essential behaviors such as arriving on time, following through with tasks, dressing professionally, respecting others at all times, and conducting all business in an ethical manner consistent with the professional expectations of the CCSN and the BACB’s Code for Professional Conduct.
  • Content Management: All team members must maintain well organized electronic medical record (EMR) files for each case supported as well as all associated physical records pertaining to clinical care.  Progress notes should be completed daily after each appointment. 
    • The following information should be documented in progress notes as related to Lead Instructor services: 
      • Service time with the patient and/or parents  
      • Any items discussed during the scheduled session time
      • Direct observation of patients (e.g., what was observed)
      • Specific direct services implemented  
      • Parent training 
  • Clinical Tasks: (under the supervision of a Senior BCBA) 
    • Implement any patient’s treatment plan 
    • Ensure that all necessary materials for instruction or patient support are appropriately positioned, made available, and utilized as prescribed by the CCSN treatment plan and aligned with the best-practice standards from the BACB. 
    • Implement any patient’s behavior support plan (BSP) 
    • Collect behavior specific data (clinical and social-behavioral data)
    • Support the use of adaptive equipment (e.g., iPads, AAC devices, walkers, seating supports)
  • Facilitate small group instructional activities based upon specific lessons as prepared by the BCBA
  • Implement all types of prompting procedures and fade these as prescribed
  • Implement behavior specific reinforcement systems on an individual and group level
  • Collect data and update graphs through the EMR 
  • Be familiar with essential patient-specific information pertinent to daily support (e.g. medical needs)
  • Alert the BCBA directly upon observing concerning situations in a patient’s daily program and/or any behaviors that may be concerning 
  • Competently describe patient information in behavioral terms to BCBA
  • Provide direct services to ABA Clinic patients as indicated in patient treatment plans
  • Develop lesson plans and corresponding data systems
  • Conduct criterion referenced assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS, AFLS, etc.)
  • Conduct portions of functional assessments (e.g., ABC data, parent interview) as assigned by BCBA
  • Write assessments including criterion reference and functional assessment
  • Conduct program book reviews and make relevant changes to programs based on data review 
  • Provide staff training and conduct fidelity checks with Behavior Technicians on treatment plans and behavior support plans that are newly developed 
  • Provide parent training for patients including didactic and in-situ with feedback
  • Universal Case Support: Lead Instructors are expected to maintain familiarity with the treatment plans of many patients enrolled in the ABA Clinic.  This will allow them to support coverage and supplement direct staff training on treatment protocols.  
  • Reports and Other Clinical Material Development: Lead Instructors are responsible for timely completion of reports and other clinical materials.  This requires that all assessments are time lined at the clinical team and that all team members identify challenges with report completion early on.  


Lead Instructor Supervision: The main goals of participating in supervision is to ensure staff fidelity with regards to program delivery and to be provided with clear expectations and feedback regarding patient programming.  

 

  • Direct Case Supervision: Lead Instructors will receive supervision, in vivo, in which a BCBA will provide direct coaching and feedback on a minimum of 10% of scheduled patient session with the Lead Instructor. 
  • Accept Direct Feedback: Lead Instructors will appropriately accept feedback from a BCBA responsible for providing direct this during in vivo sessions with the Lead Instructor.  The Lead Instructor will also independently seek help and guidance as needed to clarify treatment expectations.  The BCBA is also responsible for conducting monthly fidelity checks on each Lead Instructor.  
  • Weekly Individual Supervision: Lead Instructors will participate in weekly individual supervision with their direct BCBA supervisor.  The purpose of this supervision will be to give and receive clinical updates on cases, to receive feedback from the BCBA, and to identify and work on individual supervision goals. 
  • Weekly Group Supervision: Lead Instructors will participate in topic specific group supervision session which may include updates on policies and procedures, didactic staff training, role plays, and/or any other activities relevant to the Lead Instructor position. 

 

Non-Clinical Tasks: These tasks may be required of the Lead Instructor during scheduled, non-billable hours.  

 

  • Development of instructional materials as needed and specifically tasked by the BCBA and support Behavior Technician in creating materials as needed 
  • Follow weekly side-work schedules for maintaining cleanliness of treatment rooms, bathrooms, and other common areas of the clinic.
  • Coordinate overall cleaning and organization procedures for the ABA Clinic including PPE supplies and cleaning procedures for each work area and electronics organization, cleaning, and maintenance.  LBTs will report information collected to the Director.  
  • Create schedules for, implement, track completion of, and report on the outcomes of on-board training to newly hired staff for both Central Reach and the ABA Clinic Policies and Procedures
    • Ensure new staff are oriented to all clinic procedures and support immediate answers to questions, including guiding new staff to clinical supervisors as needed.  
  • Assist in the coordinate BT coverage schedules for staff absences with the Directors, BCBAs, and Administrative Team.  
  • Participate as members of the building coverage team (e.g., respond to calls for support to BT staff and covering breaks) as well as locking up the buildings at close.  

 

Maintain Certification with the BACB: Lead Instructor must maintain their certification as either an RBT or BCBA.  

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision per the BACB Certification standards 
  • Preference will be given to students studying behavior analysis or pursuing supervision hours towards their BCBA certification

 

CCSN General: All CCSN Behavioral Health staff are expected to participate actively in the general activities of the Center. This includes weekly tasks such as completing attending staff meetings, and communicating with the front office. This also includes participation in any Center-wide development activities such as trainings. Further, all CCSN staff are required to complete and maintain training as required by their position, including but not limited to CPR/First Aide/AED; PMT; HIPAA; mandated reporter, and sexual harassment in the workplace.
