Some Job Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical oversight and monthly meetings for the day program and residential recreation staff.
- Coordinates evening recreation program.
- Reviews and recommends program changes regarding recreation as needed.
- Attends and participates in clinic and any other relevant department meetings.
- Coordinate departmental projects such as the self-advocacy group and seasonal events.
- Liaison between Day Program, Residential and Administration regarding all recreation services.
Some Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Coordinator of Recreation Services.
- Submits a monthly summary regarding activities, priorities, and accomplishments for recreation department.
- Supervises evening recreation program.
- Trains new recreation staff and monitors progress of existing recreation staff.
- Prepares evaluations for all recreation employees and provides counseling/disciplinary actions as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy (National Certification preferred)
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Must be able to sit, stand, lift 50 lbs.
- Good written and/or verbal communication skills.
- One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of current research, technologies, concepts and practices in the area of Recreation Therapy
- Certify and maintain SCIP, CPR, and First Aide certification.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and OPWDD regulations.
