Job Overview:

The Direct Supports Professional- DSP reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for assisting, training, and supporting our clients. The DSP is responsible to provide excellent services according to the client’s person-centered plan. The objective of the DSP is to assist the clients in their daily living activities and-or employment goals to positively impact each client’s growth.

The DSP provides direct services to our clients. They will assist the clients with accessing their community and by providing support services to them. Those services may include transportation, assisting with meal planning, exercising, or safety while in their community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Adhere to The Center’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality.

· Develop relationships that are respectful, based on mutual trust, and that maintain professional boundaries.

· Encourage growth and recognize autonomy while also being attentive reducing the client’s risk of harm; create a safe environment.

· Know and respect the values of the people served and advocate their expression of choices related to those values.

· Facilitate effective and meaningful activities (monthly calendars) tailored to business and client needs.

· Facilitate training sessions with the clients on various topics, including safety while in the community, recipient rights, compliance-reporting, and personal development.

· Follow each client’s person-centered plan to aid in achieving their goals.

· Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure active participation, communication and client engagement.

· Stay informed on trends, best practices, regulatory changes by participating in monthly departmental meetings.

· Observe and report any patterns in behavior including any progression or regression and report to the Program Manager, capture success stories.

· Acts as a resource to the clients, including supporting and motivating them when possible.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Education: High School Diploma.

· Experience: The Center will train the required skillset; however, the employee will be an active member by engaging in the training course. See Expectations.

· Physical Requirements

· The Direct Support Professional position will typically work in the community with occasional work outside and in small, enclosed spaces. Frequent sitting, standing, talking, active listening and repetitive motions. Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, crawling, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling and crouching.

· Strength in the following skillset:

· Attention to detail.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Excellent time management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

· Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

· Organization is a must.

· Proficient in Recipient Rights.

· Mandt or CPI is an advantage.

· CPR or First Aid is an advantage.

· Knowledge of Industry Standards is an advantage.

Grievance and Appeals During orientation and annually thereafter.

Bloodborne Pathogens During orientation and annually thereafter.

Limited English Proficiency (LEP) During orientation and annually thereafter.

Person Centered Planning, Self Determination During orientation and annually thereafter.

Recipient Rights Within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

C.P.I. OR Mandt Training Within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.

C.P.R. and First Aid Within 60 days of hire and prior to expiration date.

Medication Administration Within 60 days of hire.

Individual Plan of Service- I.P.O.S. Prior to serving the client.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $16.05 per hour
