GENERAL SUMMARY
The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) works within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct (face-to-face) and indirect services to consumers in a person-centered, trauma informed, and individualized approach utilizing evidence-based practices delivered to fidelity. The LCDC completes collaborative documentation with the client in accordance with State and agency program policies. Individuals served may have multi-system involvement such as Criminal Justice, Child and Adult Welfare, Veterans, Residential instability, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops treatment plans, including measurable goals and objectives, and completes review for progress.
- Facilitates psycho-education classes, group therapy, support groups, and individual counseling.
- Inputs clinical documentation into Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services (CMBHS) in a timely manner for all services rendered with or on behalf of clients.
- Links and refers consumers presenting to clinic to appropriate services.
- Performs biopsychosocial intakes and assessments, and explores diagnoses with course of treatment.
- Screens for substance abuse, including physical and mental health status.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Specific Program Descriptions:
Opioid Addiction Treatment Services (OATS)
OATS is a medication assisted treatment program (MAT) for clients dealing with Opioid use disorder. The program offers adult clients treatment with either methadone or Suboxone and all clients receive both medication and counseling services as part of their treatment. OATS works as a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centered care to our clients, assisting them on their recovery journey. The candidate in this position will provide direct client services to adults for linkage to the OATS via intake and evaluation assessment for program eligibility. During the initial assessment, the candidate will review program expectations and requirements. The candidate will link consumer to internal and external services/resources, and assists with crisis intervention/resolution when needed. The candidate in this position may assist with walk-in clients when intake assessments are not scheduled. Services will be provided in a clinic setting.
DETOX:
The Residential Detoxification Unit (Detox) is a licensed, accredited* 28-bed facility offering medical oversight and recovery support for people withdrawing from addictive substances. Residencies are typically 3-7 days but will vary depending on an individual patient’s symptoms. Detox aims to help residents complete a safe withdrawal from alcohol and drug abuse, encourage continual substance abuse treatment, and motivate and empower you to develop a healthy recovery lifestyle.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field from an accredited university or,
- High School diploma and 2 years of related experience or,
- High School diploma and a current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing.
- One (1) year of experience working with consumers diagnosed with substance abuse, mental health, or dual diagnosis.
