Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to further the achievement of the organization's mission in delivering high-quality programs and services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilitating adaptive recreation and sport programs for individuals with physical challenges, and demonstrate experience with creative program development. This role requires a strategic thinker who can effectively develop and manage a collaborative team, manage budgets, foster relationships, and supervise staff to ensure the successful implementation of goals and values toward our mission.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of program curriculum that provides instruction for participants within adaptive recreation and adaptive sport components. Ensure programs offer opportunity for skill development and exploration of interests, and encourage practice of individual skills in recreation/leisure and sport involvement toward goals of physical and psychosocial wellness that assists to enhance the quality of their lives.
- Coordinate the scheduling and supervision of program staff to ensure the delivery of quality services and adequate coverage. Assist with facilitation of program coverage as necessary.
- Ensure implementation of agency policies and program protocols within assigned program areas.
- Administer programs within established budgets.
- Assist with ongoing internal and external community relations to maintain ties potential volunteers and organizations.
- Accept a flexible work schedule requiring some weekend and evening hours.
Skills Required
- Proven experience in program development and management within therapeutic recreation or related field.
- At least 2 years experience working with individuals with physical challenges
- At least 2 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operations efficiently.
- Effective computer skills for charting, tracking outcomes, and general use of computer for work purposes.
- Effective communication skills.
