In this full-time position, you will be responsible for determining and explaining patient insurance benefits and payments, as well as checking and verifying patient insurance eligibility for all patients prior to their appointments. Your role is crucial in ensuring our patients understand their coverage, leading to a seamless experience in accessing healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insurance Verification:
- Proactively check and verify insurance eligibility for all patients prior to appointments, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Benefit Explanation:
- Analyze and interpret insurance policies to determine patient benefits, coverage limits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients to explain their insurance benefits and any financial responsibilities they may have.
- Patient Support:
- Address patient inquiries regarding insurance benefits, billing procedures, and payment options in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Assist patients in navigating any issues related to insurance claims or denials, providing guidance on the appeals process when necessary.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with healthcare providers, billing staff, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to patient coverage and payments.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance verification and communication with patients, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, regulations, and best practices to ensure the delivery of accurate information to patients and staff.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency of insurance verification and patient communication workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or healthcare administration is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of insurance terminology, benefits, and billing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and insurance verification tools.
