Specialized Behavioral Health Services Internship
Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Specialized Behavioral Services and the Program Managers of Assertive Community Treatment and our Specialized Treatment, Advocacy, and Recovery Services for Schizophrenia, participating interns will work in an interdisciplinary team to improve access to integrated services for our clients. Interns will have opportunities to learn evidence based practice models of Assertive Community Treatment, Coordinated Specialty Care for First Episode Psychosis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis. Interns will also gain skills in collaborating with Behavioral Health, Primary Care, and Psychiatric services to ensure clients have access to available services.
About Assertive Community Treatment: The ACT team provides intensive, 24-hour, community-based support for individuals experiencing serious mental illness who are most at-risk of psychiatric crisis, hospitalization, or involvement in the criminal justice system.
About STARS: Specialized Treatment, Advocacy, and Recovery Services (STARS) and FIRST Episode Psychosis programs that provide comprehensive, psychiatric, and specialty care to individuals experiencing schizophrenia and/or psychosis.
Responsibilities And Duties
Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or master’s level Social Work program, Counseling Program.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Evaluates the status of clients and do appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to their changing needs.
- Provide screenings, assessment and referrals for clients of the ACT and STARS program.
- Provides an array of services that address the individualized mental health needs of those individuals who have a mental illness, chemical dependency, including but not limited to ongoing assessment of needs, coordination of services, linkage, symptom monitoring, advocacy, outreach, housing placement, and skill development.
- Support group treatment as a co-facilitator
- Works collaboratively with behavioral health, physical health, and pharmacy staff to ensure integrated care is available to all clients.
- Attends and participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Opportunities for research and program development experience for those who are interested.
- Completes agency documentation in accordance with ODMH and best practice standards
Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or master’s level Social Work program, Counseling Program.
- Will demonstrate effective verbal and written communicationskills
- Will work cooperatively with other team members following The Centers' values system
