Position Overview:
The Student Supervision Aide is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students during non-instructional periods, including recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal. This role involves actively monitoring student behavior, enforcing school rules, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment on campus. The aide will work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to maintain a secure and structured school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in designated areas, including the playground, cafeteria, hallways, and school entrances/exits.
- Monitor student behavior to ensure compliance with school rules and reinforce positive behavior.
- Intervene in and report inappropriate behavior, conflicts, or safety concerns to appropriate school personnel.
- Assist in resolving minor student conflicts and refer serious issues to school administrators when necessary.
- Ensure a safe and orderly environment during lunch and recess, including organizing and supervising recreational activities as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with staff and administration regarding student concerns or incidents.
- Assist in the supervision of students during arrival and dismissal to ensure orderly transitions.
- Provide assistance to students as needed, including directing them to appropriate locations and ensuring they follow school procedures.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to school administration promptly.
- Follow all school policies and procedures regarding student discipline, emergency protocols, and safety measures.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children in a school or youth program setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to remain calm and effectively handle student behavior issues.
- Understanding of school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Must pass a background check and any required school safety training.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily works outdoors or in school common areas.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- May involve moderate physical activity, including bending, reaching, and assisting students.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
Schedule:
- After school
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
