Retail Associate

Hey there! Welcome to The Chadderbox Hobby Shop. We are a toys and games store located in The Lufkin Mall. We are currently looking to hire a new creative self-starter to join the team! This business has many moving parts, as do most. On the outside, we are a simple retail establishment, but on the inside, we are a community based service business with a strong backbone in E-commerce and digital marketing. We have distributors that provide us product directly from the source (Pokemon Company, Konami, Bandai ETC) and we then sell those products to the public. We also partner with those companies to provide organized play events to the Trading Card Game communities! We host regular tournaments for many popular games and are still expanding our catalog! To keep our business growing we are establishing a strong foothold in the online spaces to push our sales up with support from viral marketing by utilizing popular platforms like Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, and more. With all these moving pieces, we are looking for someone who is willing to learn and grow and expand their skill sets with us as we grow together.

This position has only 1 barrier to entry, a willingness to grow and learn with us! No previous training or experience in these areas are required as we will all be working closely together. On the job training will be consistent.
This position requires a minimum of 30hrs/week commitment but offers flexible hours and can accommodate full time with overtime as well.

Starting pay is $10hr with an increase to $12 after 6 months of positive performance.

Scheduling is flexible!

Day to Day responsibilities.
- Opening store on time with proper head time for cleaning and a quick walk of spaces before doors open to public
- Taking orders and assisting customers with finding items
- Taking in new card trades (proper recordkeeping and adding to inventory)
- Taking in new inventory shipments and adding to inventory and store front (20-50lb lift)
- Helping coordinate and run organized game play events with customers on specific nights
- Providing feedback on processes and content creation

Duties:
- Greet customers and assist them in finding the right products
- Provide product knowledge and answer any questions or concerns
- Assist with stock replenishment and maintaining a clean and organized store environment
- Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately
- Process customer returns and exchanges
- Meet or exceed sales goals by upselling and cross-selling products
- Collaborate with team members to achieve store targets
- Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and industry trends

Skills:
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficient in cash handling and operating point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Knowledge of technology products is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
