The Chaklader Firm (TCF), a DC-based law firm is seeking a junior attorney (2-5 years of attorney work experience) barred in D.C., Maryland and/or Virginia to support the firm on a contractual basis.
TCF is a professional legal services corporation with attorneys that cater to the complex needs of companies and individuals in Litigation, Government Contracts, Contracts & Transactional, Compliance, Non-Profit & For-Profit Set-up & Governance, and International Matters. We help clients involved in cross-border transactions navigate and comply with U.S. and International Trade laws and regulations, including U.S. Export/Import, Sanctions, Anti-Corruption, and Anti-Money Laundering requirements. Our team has designed and implemented compliance programs, conducted audits and investigations, provided training, managed litigation and achieved favorable settlements for some of the world’s largest and most complex publicly traded companies around the world, including in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.
Ideal candidates will possess:
1. 2 to 5 years of experience in regulatory/administrative law and/or civil litigation, contracts, transactional, and business governance;
2. bar admission in D.C., Maryland, and/or Virginia;
3. exceptional attention to detail;
4. strong legal research and writing skills;
5. flexibility to support a busy and growing law firm as needed; and
6. a positive attitude.
Responsibilities will include:
1. reviewing, comprehending, learning and advising on requirements arising under various regulations including the ITAR, EAR, FAR, and DFARs;
2. drafting, reviewing and assisting in negotiating commercial contracts as may be necessary;
3. drafting and reviewing litigation to be filed in local and/or federal courts;
4. attending hearings and arguing motions;
5. attending meetings with existing and prospective clients;
6. preparing and responding to correspondence from each; and
7. performing related legal support and administrative tasks.
The firm is also seeking assistance in the review and preparation of responsive bids to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for legal/consulting work. This requires knowledge of law as well as expertise in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word, Smartsheet. Candidates with the skill sets mentioned above plus strong marketing backgrounds and a demonstrated aptitude with graphic arts and related software, e.g. Adobe, Canvas etc., will be given priority.
This position will occasionally require weekend and evening support.
