Job Description
We are seeking a Buyer/Material Coordinator for a full time, direct hire position in Stevens Point, WI.
- Negotiate and purchase assigned commodities and services in accordance with defined objectives.
- Actively research and evaluate new sources, "best-of-the-best", and/or recommend possible alternative materials.
- Continually work to improve our process and the supply stream.
- Engage suppliers in innovation that improves our processes.
- Knows, reviews, and improves the complete transaction cycle.
- Proactive in minimizing purchased part shortages by working closely with the Material Expeditor and suppliers.
- Assures availability of long lead materials.
- Coordinates delivery schedule for JIT (just-in-time) manufacturing environment.
- Interacts with appropriate personnel (internal and external) to ensure a smooth flow of information and purchased materials.
- Review all NCMR's directed at suppliers. Assists in identifying problems, research causes, and negotiates with the suppliers to clear and resolve problems.
- Responds to internal requests for supplier quotations and new supplier searches.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university is preferred; plus a minimum of two years related experience in a broad based purchasing function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The training time for this position is a minimum of one year.
Salary range is 40-50k BOE.
