What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parking enforcement position at The Charles Town Police Department?
The Charles Town Police Department is accepting applications for a full time non-civil service position of Parking Enforcement Officer.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants need to have a valid drivers license, good communication skills and the ability to learn meter maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patrol assigned area of the City on foot to ensure public compliance with existing parking regulations.
Report unusual parking violations.
Provide information to the public regarding parking regulations and facilities, and the location of streets, buildings, and points of interest.
Present information and documentation as needed for court hearings.
Wear and maintain a designated (City-provided) uniform.
Work cooperatively with City staff and the public to promote and uphold applicable laws, codes, and ordinances through efficient, equitable and fair parking enforcement activities.
Collect and prepare revenue from parking meters for deposit.
Perform diagnostic checks, repairing internal parking meter components, and maintaining parking meters.
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Email, etc.).
Assist with traffic direction during parades / special functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Starting salary begins at $38,362.00 to $40,304.00 based on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance as well as WV State Retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
