Job Description
While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome all guests and ensure guests receive responsive, professional and gracious service at all times.
- Answer any questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or any other inquiries the guest may have.
- Monitor food usage during shift to ensure proper food presentation throughout food service times.
- Set-up and break down food stations by the appropriate time stated in the training manual.
- Prepare alcoholic beverages for guests.
- Refill beverages, clear plates, and monitor guest needs throughout the event to ensure a seamless experience.
- Polish and clean all glasses in assigned areas for guest use before setting them out.
- Remove empty plates, glassware, and trash from tables discreetly and regularly.
- Deliver, pick up, and break down dishes.
- Ensure furniture and floors are clean and arranged according to specifications.
- In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior hospitality and/ or food & beverage experience preferred
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in communication with guests, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computer skills. Must have complete knowledge of POS system.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Ability to describe all menu items, prices and methods of preparation. And to use suggestive selling techniques to encourage the guests to choose items that are house specialties.
- Must have complete knowledge of products and specifications that is outlined in the dinner menu.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs. frequently.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for 8 hours in length.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
