The Charlton School is a small, clinically focused, therapeutic residential and day NYS approved 853 school for students in grades 8-12. Broad Function:
The Chef is responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of nutritious, quality meals to the campus community. The Chef is responsible for the coordination and management of all campus food service functions, maintains the food service areas in an orderly and sanitary condition, and acts as a liaison between food service and other departments.
Job Duties included but are not limited to:
- Plan, prepare and serve nutritious quality meals to the campus community - meal needs vary from groups of 20-100
- Collaborate on purchasing of all food, food supplies, and equipment within budgetary guidelines
- Schedule maintenance and/or repair of all equipment, coordinated with the Maintenance Department
- Research, develop, and implement new, creative, and healthy menu items and recipes
- Follow sanitation and safety standards for food handling and equipment as established by the New York State Department of Health
- Conduct trainings for the Charlton community as needed
- Follow a daily and weekly cleaning routine to maintain the food service areas and equipment in an orderly, sanitary condition
- Assist in planning and preparation for campus community events that require Food Service support
- Work with individual students/small student groups teaching basic kitchen and cooking skills
- Perform any other Food Service related duties as assigned by the Director of Medical Services

Criteria:
- Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related area of expertise required, Bachelor of Arts Degree preferred
- Expertise in all areas of food preparation and cooking
- Expertise in the safe operation of various food service equipment
- Familiarity with all NYS Dept of Health regulations for Food Service operations
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb stairs multiple times daily
- 2 years cooking experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
