Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized and group instruction that fosters English language acquisition and proficiency
- Collaborate with general education teachers to co-plan and co-teach in an integrated ENL setting
- Design lessons and assessments aligned with Common Core Learning Standards and New York State ENL Standards
- Provide targeted support for ELL students to meet their academic goals in core content areas
- Track and assess student progress, utilizing formative and summative assessments to inform instruction
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and ways to support language development at home
- NYS Certification in English as a New Language (ENL) or English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is required
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field, preferred
- Prior experience working with ELLs in a high school setting, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of language acquisition theories, culturally responsive pedagogy, and differentiation strategies
- Demonstrated success working in non-traditional and/or urban school settings
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families
- Experience with educational technology (SMARTBoard, Student Laptops, etc.)
- Commitment to social justice and equity in education
