The Charter High School for Law and Social Justice is dedicated to providing students in the Bronx with a rigorous high school education, preparing them for success in college and future careers. Using a theme of law and social justice, our school engages, inspires, and empowers students by equipping them with the academic skills needed to earn a Regents diploma, gain college admission, and ultimately pursue legal careers. Through mentoring, partnerships, and immersive college and law school experiences, our students learn firsthand about the academic benchmarks and habits necessary for college and beyond.

Desired Qualifications
- Required: Master'sdegree in a related field
- Required: Valid NYS Certification in a related subject area
- Required: Minimum of two years of teaching experience
- Demonstrated success teaching in an urban or non-traditional school setting
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Proficiency with educational technology (SMARTBoard, student laptops, etc.)
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
1. Content Knowledge & Planning
- Demonstrate in-depth expertise in the subject area(s) taught
- Develop meaningful, relevant lessons aligned with Understanding by Design principles
- Collaborate with specialists to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
- Integrate technology (e.g., SMARTBoard, student laptops) to enhance instruction
2. Instructional Strategies
- Connect current lessons with past and future learning
- Employ varied instructional methods (e.g., modeling, cooperative learning, reading/writing in content areas) to engage all learners
- Use questioning techniques to promote critical thinking
- Continuously assess student understanding and adjust instruction as needed
- Ensure active, successful participation for every student
3. Assessment & Feedback
- Use multiple assessment tools to guide and modify instruction
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback
- Employ fair and transparent grading practices
4. Student Communication & Rapport
- Use clear, precise language in both oral and written communication
- Articulate lesson goals and procedures to students
- Model empathy, respect, and positive listening skills
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students
5. Classroom Management
- Enforce the school’s behavior policy and maintain a positive learning environment
- Set clear expectations for student conduct and collaborate with parents on behavior issues
