Position Summary
The Category Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic management of product categories to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop category strategies, optimize product assortments, and drive promotional activities. The Category Manager plays a pivotal role in identifying market trends, analyzing customer insights, and implementing effective merchandising strategies to maximize category performance.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement category management strategies to drive sales and profitability goals for assigned product categories.
- Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities and develop innovative category plans.
- Collaborate with suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional programs to optimize product assortment and build strong vendor relationships.
- Conduct regular analysis of sales data, market research, and consumer insights to make data-driven decisions and recommend strategies for product assortment optimization, pricing, and promotions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure effective execution of category strategies and alignment with company objectives.
- Monitor category performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop actionable insights to drive continuous improvement in sales and profitability.
- Support and guide category management team members, fostering collaboration and professional growth within the department.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (MBA a plus).
- Strong background in category management, merchandising, and driving sales growth.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategic solutions.
- Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and building strong supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in category management software and tools.
- Previous experience in food service distribution strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with food importing is a strong plus.
