General Statement of Responsibility : The Health Fitness Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating wellness programs, as approved by the Fitness Director. Supports, promotes, and instructs residents and team members in all areas of fitness, aquatic and land exercise classes, gym instruction and supervision, and individual exercise programs. Must have a thorough understanding of the fitness center equipment and procedures. Interacts and motivates residents and team members in a positive and constructive manner.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
- Preferred - certification in group exercise and / or personal trainer.
- Certified in CPR.
- Experience providing land exercise, aquatic exercise and overall wellness programs for the following levels of care : Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Health Care.
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate safe and effective individualized fitness programs for all levels of care.
- Ability to present programs and act as a spokesperson at resident and public functions.
- Ability to oversee administrative duties in the absence of the Fitness Director.
- Experience working with senior population.
- Ability to be creative, organized, motivated and show initiative in all areas of assigned duties.
- Ability to demonstrate computer skills, as assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, employees, family members, and guests.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments for wellness programming.
- Maintains a record of wellness programs and events. Records shall include monthly attendance statistics in all levels of care.
- Initiates and follows-up on work orders in all areas of supervision, which require attention.
- Regularly attends department meetings as assigned.
- Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
