Position Summary
The Chestnut Hill School seeks a dynamic and collaborative educator to join our talented Grade 4 teaching team as a Lead Teacher with homeroom and Language Arts teaching responsibilities. This individual will be responsible for planning and implementing the reading and writing curriculum for all Grade 4 students, assessing their academic and social-emotional development, and maintaining regular communication with families. As a homeroom teacher, they will help foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that reflects the school’s values and mission.

The Lead Teacher Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Plan and implement the academic program in collaboration with grade-level colleagues.
- Foster students’ social and emotional development using the Open Circle curriculum.
- Develop and administer assessments to monitor student progress.
- Differentiate instruction, assignments, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, academic programming, and classroom events.
- Conduct parent/guardian-teacher conferences.
- Write narrative progress reports and letters of recommendation for student applications.
- Support and supervise classroom interns or associate teachers, as applicable.
- Collaborate with content specialists and teaching staff to enhance learning experiences.
- Manage classroom administrative tasks, including attendance and material orders.
- Fulfill assigned duties such as dismissal, lunch, and recess supervision.
- Organize and support field trips and experiential learning opportunities.
- Attend staff meetings and school professional development sessions.
- Participate in school-wide events, including Admissions open houses and the Carnival, which may occur outside regular work hours.
- Update and refine curriculum materials regularly.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in education or related field
- Experience working with children in this age range
- Experience supporting a wide range of learners within a diverse school setting
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
