What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Nurse position at The Chestnut Hill School?
The Summer Camp Nurse oversees the health and wellness of approximately 280 day campers (ages 4 to 14) and about 80 staff. This temporary position is 40 hours (M-F) and lasts eight weeks, from June 23rd to August 15, 2025.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide routine daily care and administration of OTC and prescribed medications. Provide emergency care to all campers and staff when needed
- Review and input electronically all camper and staff medical forms for MA state compliance prior to the start of the camp session. Communicate with parents any missing information needed for compliance.
- Maintain daily medical log records and report any camp incidents to the camp director.
- Maintain a well-stocked infirmary and prepare First Aid kits for camp field trips.
- Follow camp standing orders as outlined by the on-call Camp Medical Consultant.
- Communicate with parents regarding children's health conditions when appropriate.
- Communicate with Camp Staff as needed.
- Maintain and distribute the camp allergy/special concerns list to camp staff
- Follow camp standards and policies
- Perform other related duties as needed by the Camp
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Registered or Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current CPR/ AED and First Aid certifications
- Familiar with life-threatening allergy protocols
- Committed to working in and fostering an inclusive community
- Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies
- Work collaboratively and independently
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and risk-management skills
