The Cboe Data Vantage Software Engineering team is hiring for a Principal Software Engineer
As a technical lead on our Application Services Engineering team, you will be responsible for building a unified application and service management platform on the Cboe Data Vantage platform. This role is perfect for a seasoned engineer who is an expert in .NET / C# server-side development, experienced with JavaScript, TypeScript, and ReactJS on the frontend, and comfortable learning and working with other languages, including Python, Java, Rust, and Go, when the need arises.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the Cboe Data Vantage platform, which includes financial analytics, execution, and risk management. The Application Services Engineering team builds and maintains the core services that power the Cboe Data Vantage platform including financial analytics, execution, and risk management. Our scalable backend systems and ReactJS-based frontend applications are used by our associates in software engineering, operations, and customer-facing roles in all our global offices.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in developing and engineering complex and performant server-side applications with expertise in real-time data processing, web streaming technologies, REST APIs, and securing applications and communications to deliver enterprise-grade software solutions. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management, to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, well-architected solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Development : Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of full-stack applications using C# / .NET on the backend and ReactJS / JavaScript / TypeScript on the frontend.
- Technical Leadership : Drive technical decisions and provide mentorship to other developers on the team. Manage technical debt and help evolve the architecture to support future business needs.
- Problem Solving : Independently research and resolve complex technical problems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and operations, to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, well-architected solutions.
- Secure and Scalable APIs : Implement REST APIs using secure authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OpenID Connect and OAuth.
- Code Quality : Ensure code quality through best practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
- Performance Optimization : Optimize application performance through analysis and tuning.
- Security : Implement security code scanning and update software code to resolve security issues.
- Continuous Improvement : Stay up to date with emerging technologies and frameworks, continuously improving and innovating our stack.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
8 years of hands-on experience in professional full-stack development with a focus on C# / .NET.
Advanced expertise in C# / .NET and ASP.NET for building scalable, high-performance back-end services.
Demonstrable experience mentoring other software engineers on software design, code quality, and testing practices.
Experience with Github Copilot.

The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $165,750-$204,750. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time.
