A private household in Lincoln Park is seeking a House Manager to oversee the daily operations of their home, assist with children and their activity logistics, and manage communications for their second home in Southwest Michigan. They are a family of four who are social, active in the community, and are looking for someone to match their upbeat, energetic home environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys managing a wide range of tasks, juggling many competing priorities, and being trusted to become an extension of a tight-knit family. Must have a car, and be able to commute to their Michigan home (1-1.5 hours each way) as needed in the summer.
Responsibilities:
- Help coordinate meetings, lunches, calls, and dinners for the CEO, and ensure that his personal and professional calendars are always up-to-date.
- Assist with after-school pickups and drop offs for two children, and occasional at-home support as needed.
- Weekly grocery shopping, meal prepping, snack and dinner preparation.
- Run errands as needed, including buying gifts for family, team members and clients, handling returns.
- Oversee home repairs and maintenance, car upkeep (washes, gas, oil changes, etc.), preparation for parties/hosting.
- Assist with light housekeeping—organization, dishes, general straightening up (weekly housekeeping team for deeper cleans).
- Manage all logistics for travel—purchasing tickets, coordinating transport and hotels, packing and unpacking, ensuring all needed documents are up-to-date and accessible.
- Provide oversight of their Michigan vacation home, including managing staff communications, preparing for family stays (stock the fridge, ensure everything is clean & organized).
- Although a consistent schedule will be created, this person must have flexibility to work outside of that, as needed (notice provided for significant changes in hours).
Requirements:
- 2 years of work experience, ideally handling complex projects, with the willingness to take on a variety of household tasks on a day-to-day basis.
- Must be self-directed, reliable, mature, and energetic. Strong communication skills and attention to detail required.
- Experience working with children, in a private home or within a childcare setting.
- Ability to work with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Enjoys cooking, can follow basic cooking instructions and help with food prep/groceries as needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, and ideally their own vehicle (gas will be reimbursed).
Compensation:
$70,000-85,000 annually, plus benefits stipend
