Job Description
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Cleans and maintains CERL office building to ensure a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment for all agency constituents.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Specific Activites Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Completes assigned daily work schedule as prepared by supervisor;
- Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors;
- Vacuums carpets thoroughly up to baseboards to be free of dust, dirt and particles;
- Washes windows, interior and exterior, and cleans blinds as scheduled;
- Maintains washrooms and locker rooms, de-scale toilet bowls and urinals, maintain floors sweep and damp mop, sanitizing all surfaces and keeping supplies stocked;
- Keeps kitchen and cafeteria areas clean and stocked;
- Cleans all drinking fountains so that they are free form spots, stains, smudges or streaks;
- Picks up trash from offices, cleans cans as necessary, and provides fresh supplies of bags;
- Removes trash and breaks down boxes and disposes of debris properly;
- Uses provided equipment properly and safely, including industrial vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber, polisher, floor sweeper, and all tools needed for assigned tasks;
- Adjusts hours, as needed, to assist with special projects and events;
- Performs all duties with an attitude of safety and consideration displayed by all employees of The Chicago Lighthouse;
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- At least one year of previous maintenance experience preferred;
- Dependability, cooperation, and ability to work independently required;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate equipment required;
