Description
We are currently looking for a Full Time Developmental Editor to join our Chickasaw Press Editorial team located at the Department of Culture and Humanities working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.
Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Works directly with authors on the writing/editing and development process
- Focuses on major/global revision including “ghost writing,” substantive structural revisions, etc.
- Conducts interviews to aid in the writing of memoirs, biographies, etc.
- Assists in the development of manuscripts to ensure conformity to the vision or concept for the publication
- Oversees and/or coordinates all peripheral material including illustrations, front matter, index, etc.
- Copyedits all manuscripts for adherence to style guide, research citations, fact checking, publisher specifications, etc.
- Submits fully developed manuscripts for approval to move into the production phase
- Performs all other duties as assigned

- Basic Computer skills
- Exceptional writing, research, and editing skills
Experience:
Essential:
- 3 years directly related experience
Education:
Essential:
- High School, GED or Equivalent
Nonessential:
- Associates Degree in directly related field
Nonessential:
- College degree preferred in English, History, Native American Studies, Communication/Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
Credentials:
Essential:
- Pass general background check
- Standard Driver's License
Working Conditions:
Essential:
- Works in an office setting
- May be required to work after hours or on weekends as needed
- Travel is primarily within Chickasaw Nation boundaries
- Pass pre-employment drug test
