We are currently looking for a Full Time Medical Assistant to join our Tribal and Commercial Health Clinical Nursing team located at the Sovereign Family Practice Clinic - Norman working .
Summary :
Performs a variety of nursing and medical support functions within the Employee Health Clinic and be responsible for providing routine patient care, recognizing common health conditions, and administering prescribed medications while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities :
- Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types

- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made

- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

- Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of data and information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Provides guidance and or participates in the onboarding of new staff when necessary
- Calculates and safely administers all prescribed medications according to nursing standards and facility policy and protocols
- Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions
- Assessment of patients experiencing urgent, emergent, or non-emergent conditions
- Assesses physical needs of all ages of patients
- Assesses bio-psychosocial needs of all ages of patients
- Assesses health education needs of all ages of patients
- Provides and advocates age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based upon facility mission statements and as outlined in policies and procedures
- Implements interventions appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff
- Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff
- Performs all other duties as assigned
