We are currently looking for a Full Time Peds RN Lactation Consultant to join our Pediatric Clinic Team team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.
Summary:
Provides routine patient care by utilizing and documenting the nursing process.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and plans patient care in an effort to meet set standards for quality
- Provides and advocates age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based upon facility mission statements and as outlined in policies and procedures
- Calculates and safely administers all prescribed medications according to nursing standards and facility policy and protocols
- Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions
- Protects the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy
- Assessment of patients experiencing urgent, emergent, or non-emergent conditions
- Assesses physical needs of all ages of patients
- Assesses bio-psychosocial needs of all ages of patients
- Assesses health education needs of all ages of patients
- Implements interventions appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient
- Triage patients according to Emergency Severity Index
- Collects patient data in initial screening and documents as necessary
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff
- Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff
- Coordinates services a patient receives to include, but is not limited to, shared care planning, medication reconciliation, patient support and health education, and screening and tracking outcomes
- Identifies and screens cases, determines the availability of community resources, evaluates the status of the patient’s mental and physical capabilities and provides coordination
- Provides clinical support to breastfeeding mothers during pre-natal and on an outpatient basis
- Provides lactation and breastfeeding education and training for health care provider
- Coordinates patient, family and staff breastfeeding education activities
- Provides in-service breastfeeding training to staff on a continual basis and other professional staff upon request
- Initiates and receives referral from physicians, nursing staff, WIC staff and patients
- Conduct sand participates in breastfeeding related seminars as appropriate to role in the program
- Assists with grant proposals regarding breastfeeding/lactation as needed
- Facilitates patient care by generating and faxing/copying patient protected health information necessary for continuation of care to outside healthcare facilities and/or providers, ensuring that all records needed for this process are accurate and valid
- Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner
- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made

Education:

- Bachelors of Nursing
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing, or written plan to obtain within 4 years of hire
Credentials:
Essential:
- Pass general background check
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Unrestricted Oklahoma Registered Nurse License
- Must pass internal Medication Test
- Multi-State Registered Nurse Licensure within 90 days
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Essential:
- Multi-state licensure is required within 90 days of employment
- Must obtain IBCLC within 1 year of hire
