Summary
The Child Care and Learning Center has an opening in our kitchen for a part-time assistant to support the Kitchen Manage for our Child and Adult Care Food Program. The ideal candidate has good time management and organization skills, is reliable, has cooking experience in a commercial setting, and is able to manage the pressures of an active kitchen. This is an hourly position up to 20 hours per week and does not include benefits.
Duties
The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for the following duties:
Requirements
This position requires the candidates to be 21 or older with a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year of successful work experience preferably in a commercial kitchen. Preference will be given to candidates who are ServSafe certified-others must work toward obtaining this certification during the 90-day probationary period. All candidates are required to be in good health and will need to pass all state licensing requirements including a criminal background check, fingerprinting, TB screening, and all training requirements. All candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
CCLC additionally requires all candidates to have an annual flu vaccine.

- Preparing and serving snacks and lunch in accordance with the menu prepared by the Kitchen Manager.
- Creating special snacks and meals for children with food allergies or special nutrition needs.
- Assisting with unpacking, and safely storing all food items
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, dishes, and silverware, and keeping storage areas neat, organized, and sanitized
- Adhering to all ServSafe and USDA safety standards for food handling, preparation, and storage
- Other duties as assigned
