Position Overview:
The Activity Specialists work directly with participants, overseeing content specific after school activities including arts, literacy, sports, and STEAM. The Activity Specialists have content specific knowledge and experience working with school aged youth. The Activity Specialist is responsible for designing and facilitating project-based learning experiences within a specialization.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities. Take daily attendance.
- Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty
- Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
- Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
- Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
- Providing homework help, facilitating activities and supervising children in programs outside of school day hours.
- Attend all necessary program meetings/training's.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the group activities and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the federal, state, locals’ requirements as well as agency policies and applicable laws.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED. College students preferred.
- 2 years' demonstrated experience working with youth in your specialization
- Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and aptitude for motivating people.
- Must have content specific experience (i.e. sports, arts, literacy, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience working with children.
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task
