Summary
The Assistant Teacher is responsible with assisting the teacher in the planning and implementation of appropriate programs for children that meet the educational, social, emotional, and physical needs of the group, as well as each individual child.

Essential Functions:
- Facilitate a classroom environment that is children centered, promotes learning and is responsive to children. Developing appropriate goals for the group and for individual children that will be achieved through “hands-on” and positive learning experiences that comply with the program philosophy.
- Keep the classroom equipment and materials in proper working condition: removing and/or reporting any damaged or hazardous equipment to the educational director.
- Encourage children to appropriately use classroom equipment and materials that will assure safety and will maximize their learning.
- Respond cooperatively to the supervision of the teacher to assure that the children’s daily routine is being maintained through appropriate activities and interactions.
- To assist the teacher with annual parent night planning, assist the teacher in the preparation of parent/teacher conferences, and discuss each child’s progress in all developmental areas.
- To promote a positive relationship with parents about the child progress through confidential informal conversation and written communication.
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings, teacher meetings and other meetings as determined by the Educational Director to discuss classroom related topics.
- To maintain classroom records including daily sign-in sheets, U.S.D.A. meal counts, attendance books and accident logs. Assist the teacher in completing and submitting documents and rooms as deemed necessary by the Education Director to comply with program’s policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- 1 year of experience working with children.
- Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Education.
