The RTF is a coeducational program in a warm, supportive environment that serves young people ages 12-18 who have had multiple psychiatric hospital placements or have been involved with the juvenile justice system. It is the only downstate RTF in the state that is a dual NYS Office of Mental Health/Office of Children and Family Services facility. We never consider it too late to give young people the help they need, and we are pleased to partner with these two agencies to ensure the young people in our care have the skills and support they need to achieve long-term success. Reflecting The Child Center’s dedication to comprehensive care, the RTF is staffed by clinical coordinators, psychiatric providers, a pediatrician, and 24-hour nursing staff, 24 hour youth advocates. Supports are individualized and tailored to the needs of the young people.
The culinary supervisor (CS) will provide kitchen management, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. The CS will be creative and detailed oriented in the communication to their immediate team and to the clients and staff at the Residential Treatment Facility (RTF). The culinary supervisor will foster a collaborative and positive work environment while helping to elevate the culinary experience for the clients. The culinary supervisor will work closely with the nutritionist and senior admin team to ensure DOH and OMH compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversight of kitchen operations, assist in menu planning and daily kitchen operations, including ingredient prep, equipment maintenance, and sanitation.
Assist in employee development, training, and mentoring
Prepare and cook dishes, including entrees, appetizers, salads, and desserts
Ensure food is of high quality, presented well, and served on time
Monitor sanitation practices and follow kitchen safety standards
Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations
Inventory management: Order and maintain an inventory of food and supplies, and manage food costs
Ability to lift and transport food and other items weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
Mobility to perform assigned production tasks including constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time.
Qualifications:
Professional training through a culinary college/institution or proven experience as a culinary supervisor working in a fast-paced, high-volume fine dining restaurant/catering facility; full service casual dining preferred.
Must have NYC food protection certificate
Proficiency with (Rational brand) combi oven, its use, operation and maintenance.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Knowledge of food safety standards.
Ability to multitask in a fast paced, team orientated setting.

High School diploma or equivalency
Ability to write and communicate effectively.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
