Summary:The Respite Care Worker is responsible for providing temporary care to young people, with offering a necessary respite to the parent and/or caregiver, thereby alleviating home stress and enhancing family harmony.
Essential Functions:
Work with children who have Serious Emotional Disturbance (S.E.D.) in community and/or home environments.
Supervises and engages the child in recreational activities which support the child’s constructive interests and abilities.
Works in collaboration with the Health Home providers and parents to ensure that the child’s needs are met when engaged in respite care activities.
Documents services provided within 48 hours of service delivery.
Maintains open communication with child and family related to planned activities, observed behavior, etc.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalency.
1 year of experience working or volunteering with children with special needs and their families.
Ability to work amongst diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
Good written, verbal, and listening skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have some knowledge with using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Strong time management skills.
Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs.
