Summary
The Senior Youth Advocate is responsible for the ongoing care and supervision of the residents in all phases of their lives in the facility.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for help the adolescents learn and master the basic activities of daily living, including social interaction, educational and vocational advancement, developing interpersonal relationships with peers and adults, and emotional growth and satisfaction
Mediate verbal disputes, as well as model for the adolescents how to behave with each other in a respectful, socially acceptable way
May serve as therapists or co-therapists in group or other special treatment situations
Participate in clinical, administrative or supervisory meetings
Act as site supervisor in their absence
Serve as role models and mentors for Youth Advocates
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordinating the activities of the staff working on the unit during that shift
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in a mental health or related field Preferred.
Prior experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents
